Lecture 4: Information literacy model Thursday, December 11, 2025, Master of Library and information science, cohort 7 had an Information behaviour and information literacy class with Associate Professor Winner Chawinga. The class started on a high note as always. ASHAN Pempho? The Professor read out my name from his register. ‘present!’, I responded. Upon finishing checking the class attendance register, the class commenced. The class began with describing the information literacy model. So, the Professor described an information literacy model as guide for developing information literacy skills in individuals and provide frameworks for information literacy curricula. The Professor said that the information literacy models are also called information problem-solving models in information literacy.   Lecture 3: Information Literacy At exactly 9:00A.M of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Information behaviour and Information Literacy class commenced. Professor Winner Chawinga, our usual facilitator in the course introduced the module by referring us back to the course title. He said “If you look at this course, it is about information behaviour and information literacy”. Later on, Prof. Chawinga said today we are going to cover information literacy. First and foremost, Prof. Chawinga defined information literacy as a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognise when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information. Thus, Information literacy is increasingly important in the contemporary environment of rapid technological change and proliferation of information resources.
